[HANASHIR:1644] Re: music theory

Dear friends,
I think the only person who remembers me is Adrian but here is my 2 cents on
the theory discussion. Although a late bloomer on the technical side, (had
such a good ear used to memorize the piano lesson as a kid) I realized that
indeed a rudimentary knowledge of music and how it works is invaluable, not
only to the musician but the audience as well. When I know how the circle of
5th works I can a) follow the Rabbi when she/he starts before I do (this does
happen ha ha), b) helps me pitch for the congregation. My ear on the other
hand hears all this and thus these two tools compliment one another.

As for an easy theory book:
Harp, David. Music Theory Made Easy. VT: Musical I. Press, Inc.,
1994.
$9.95 (I think) 77p.:12inches. There is also a companion tape to this book
for $9.95.
You can also order this and other music books via phone 800-665-6474 or to
talk to real people 802-223-1544 (EST 10 AM - 5 PM). The address to order:
musical i press
PO Box 1561-M
Montpelier, VT 05602
I want to note (ha ha) that I enjoy listening to all the wonderful
conversations.
Thank you for sharing all we love,
Rebecca Howe-Pinsker
