I was particularly intrigued by one line in Steve's addition to the
Congregational Organs thread:

I've wondered this before--
What are singable keys?
I'm a baritone, and I know what singable keys are for me, and more
importantly, depending on the range of a particular piece, what a
singable key for me would be for that particular piece.
Is there accepted theory, or good research, or conjecture, on what
"singable keys" for a majority of average, untrained but tune-carrying
folks are? How about for different age groups, and for men's vs.
women's voices? I've heard of such things, but I've never really
researched the question. Maybe someone on the list has already done my
work for me. :-)
Sign me,
Curious.
