Hi Adrian,

Our temple uses a professional organist (occasionally an electronic KB) and
professional choir, hidden behind a screen along with a female cantorial
soloist on the bima.  The "mix" you mentioned is about the same as the one
at our temple.  The congregation does not sing that much.  I am wondering
if the fact that the melodies are difficult and high is a factor.  

I have started a children's choir and may soon start a volunteer adult
choir.  I hope to inject some of the newer and hassidic music into the
service this way.
