Thoughts on Tzedakah

     As I think back on Hava Nashira and look forward to CAJE, my thoughts 
     go to: tzedakah!
     
     Part of the CAJE experience is always the opportunity, with so many 
     Jewish people coming together, of making a wonderful contribution to 
     some worthy charity.  This year we are each decorating a quilt square, 
     and with it, donating a small amount of money, and the pieces will be 
     sewn together and displayed at CAJE in San Antonio, representative of 
     our taking part in the "sewing together" or fixing of the world....
     
     I wonder if any of you would like the idea of a tzedakah project for 
     next year's HN, or for any of the mini's that crop up?  I came up with 
     an idea that is very "Nashville":  take an old guitar (I have one for 
     example, that I would be glad to donate) and have the faculty 
     autograph it, and then charge an amount to raffle it off, and the 
     winner would get a great souvenir (and an extra guitar) and all the 
     proceeds would go to tzedakah, perhaps something special within the 
     region.
     
     Whaddya think?
