Rich, thanks for your valuable and valued input on getting off our tuchases
(literally and figuratively) at Hava Nashira and capitilizing on the wealth of
opportunities that present themselves in a gathering of such immensely
talented people. (Each year, I am in awe of how much collective talent fills a
single room!)
I agree with everything that everyone has said -- more dance/movement; more
opportunities to learn from everyone, not just the faculty; even a bit more
free time at hours of the day not conflicting with normal sleep patterns.
The only way to make these dreams become reality, however, is to make our
feelings known to the people who actually plan the programming for HN: Gerry
Kaye, Deanne Dunn Friedman, and yes, that other Friedman person....what's her
name.....?
Hopefully, we've all indicated such sentiments on the evaluation forms we
turned in. But it couldn't hurt to reinforce these thoughts in letters/phone
calls/ etc. to the OSRUI folks throughout the year, and prior to the planning
of next year's HN.
I imagine HN will grow bigger every year, as it has done in each of the last
several years. So the "problems" we encounter will only multiply as we push
the facilities and the allotted time beyond already bloated limits. (I
understand this is how CAJE started out -- and look at the size of it now!)
With our collective talents and brainpower, we certainly can help to make HN
everything WE want it to be, not just what the staff is willing to give us.
Time to put in more than our 2 cents' worth -- and make sure it's invested in
the right places!

P.S. -- this was my 4th Hava Nashira. Thanks everybody for feeding my
addiction! Maybe we should see what we can do to develop regional "mini-Hava
Nashiras" halfway through the year, when our musical and emotional highs from
HN have begun to wane and it's another several months before we wend our way
to OSRUI. Has anyone ever succeeded in doing something like this? Might be a
good way to get ourselves re-energized when we need it most -- in the thick of
teaching religious school, etc.
