Re: Songleader for an Older Crowd

Hi Josh,

Playing for older adults is the best. Babies and old people can be very
spiritual because they are not constantly stressed about making a living.
They will love your energy and enthusiasm.

I played for Yom ha'atzma'ut here and I had a request from one of the old
dears. I wasn't sure whether I knew it so I asked one to sing it. Someone
else joined in pretty quickly. So the first one says 'That's right Edie, go
ahead, you sing it. You can never let anyone else have a go'. And with that
she shut up and wouldn't sing another note. I was amused but I had to make
sure that it wasn't obvious.

In England they love the Eurovision song winner 'Halleluya', I'm not
convinced 'Diva' will last as long. They will probably respond well to
newish stuff like 'Miriam's song' - if you sing it well.

Just enjoy. And don't forget niggunim. Teach something beautiful. I'm sure
it will go down well.

lots of love

Jess
