Re: what up?

<< Recently there has been a flood of messages to this list, but the majority
of them strike me as more or less "chat line" material. Now it becomes a
more time consuming process to go through the mail, reading this one's
pithy comments, that one's feminist outrage, this one's relationship with
her daughter, that one's personal comments to a whole host of fellow list
 members.

If I could make one request, it would be for members to demonstrate a
little self-censorship by emailing directly to a specific person when
appropriate, and letting the list serve an educational rather than "cyber
social" function. Am I alone in this opinion?

To Rich, and others who share your opinion,

I am terribly sorry for contributing to this! My comments about my daughter
had more to do with our earlier discussions on getting teenagers interested in
Jewish music, which is a topic I felt was appropriate for this list, and since
I teach pre-teens, it was of concern to me. Perhaps our list owner could
enlighten us as to what is and isn't appropriate?

In my opinion, personal attacks are definitely an unwelcome addition to the
list. However, sometimes, for the sake of engaging in open communication with
a multitude of Jewish musicians/educators from different backgrounds, we must
bear a little discussion that pushes the envelope.
