Hi Joel et al,
The Dror Yikra you refer to is of Yemenite origin.  I don't know more
about the details but you've peaked my interest and I'll check to see if
I can find out more.  By the way, it is by no means the only "standard"
melody... there are at least two others which are Ashkenazi standards
(as opposed to this one which is Sephardic...). I assume the cantors
