It's That Time of Year!

Ok, Beatle parody lovers, this should get the ball rolling for this year.
We have a good supply for Purim, now let's get going on Chanukah. Michael
Lotker has done some nice ones (maybe he can post some if he's on
line...hint-hint,) but we need more!

I found the following on the net and I did some work on it. It comes from
a Chaukah Beatle cantata. (Apologies, and thanks, to Betty Ross - anybody
know her?) BTW, scholars out there, is the historical spin accurate?

P.S. please note you need to pronounce the King's name two different ways
for the lines to work. Maybe somebody can fix that...I'm done with my
potchky-ing for now. :-)

NO GOOD MAN

To the Tune of Nowhere Man
Lyrics by Betty Ross (edited with additional lyrics by Jeff Klepper)

He's a real No Good man
Came here from a far off land
Antiochus is his name - he's the King.

Came here all the way from Greece
Wants the Jews to be a piece
Of his empire in the East he's the King.

Makes us pray - the Greek way
Night and day - the Greek way
Everything - Antiochus says we must do it his way.

Some Jews think this all is fine
Being Greek is no big crime
Even if you happen to be a Jew.

They don't want to make a fuss
Let the Greeks rule over us
But we're the ones who don't like what they do.

        Help us now, oh Judah
        We won't bow, no, Judah
Show us how to fight for the right to pray our own way.

Take your army to the hills
Fight until they've had their fill
We'll keep it up until they go away.

No Good Man, get lost now
You are not the boss now
No Good Man we're ready to die, the stakes are so high!

He's a real No Good man
Came here from a far off land
Antiochus is his name - he's the King.
