Hello, all:
In my continuing search for non-Ufros-Aleinu Sukkot music, I came across the
following. The tune is to "Why Must I Be a Teenager in Love," by Frankie
Lymon and the Teenagers (I am not sure about this, but hey, I wasn't around
in the 50's). I'm not sure who came up with the words.
Why must I Wave My Etrog and Lulav
Ooh wah ooh wah (etc., 2x)
In Autumn every year (wa-ooh) when leaves begin to fall
We dwell in tabernacles (wa-ooh) with temporary walls
Each year I ask the Lord up above (aaah)
Why must I wave my Etrog and Lulav?
We use them on Sukkot (wa-ooh), I understand it not
We wave them to and fro (wa-ooh), sometimes on Shabbat
Each year I ask .....
This year I'll learn
And I will plan
To be like everyone
With a lulav in my hand
I'll take the palm and myrtle (wa-ooo) a willow branch or two
And bind them all together (wa-ooh) and take a citron too
Then I won't ask ....
First east, then south
Then west and north
And up and down
Just shake it back and forth
Hope you all can use it!
