Friends,
I know this posting has come up before so I won't rack your brains too
hard - but our synagogue is having its 150th anniversary and since I
just retired after 20 years as its choral director, they would like ME
to do a song to honor our anniv. Off the top of my head, the only
thing I'm thinking about right now is Debbie's "Holy Place," but I know
there's a lot more sitting in my pile next to my piano. So off the
tops of YOUR heads, what comes up for something like this? Thanks! I
will have a good friend (the cantorial soloist) singing harmony with me
so it should be really nice.
Thanks for whatever you can think of... You can respond privately since
this topic has gone around already.

Subject: [HANASHIR:17029] Havdalah Bat Mitzvah follow-up
Hi Everyone,
Several months back I posted to the list for ideas and guidence about
doing a Havdalah Bat Mitzvah, and I thank y'all for the responses.
The event occurred this past weekend, and I'm happy to report that it
was a lovely ceremony. It started at 4:30 (during Shabbat) and ended
around 6:00 in perfect time for a touching Havdalah service.
I did "Miriam's Song", Craig's "Ein Kamocha", Dropkin's "R'tzei", and
Mah Tovu's "Parent's Prayer" (which fits in perfectly after the parent's
speech), along with "Hinei Ma Tov", "Shalom Rav", "Oseh Shalom", and
"Etz Chaim Hi". After the Bat Mitzvah component, we transitioned into
Havdalah with Debbie's "Havdalah Bruchot", "Elihahyu Hanavi", and Kol
B'Seder's "Shavua Tov".
The congregation is very small and shares space in a local church. They
have no cantor.
Anyway, I just wanted to say "Thank You" for the help and support.
B'Shalom,
Scott Shuster
