Hello All -
In catching up with past postings from this list I see people asking
frequently for music from biblical texts, holocaust, social action, life cycle
themes,
etc. and I wondered if you know about the music of Cantor Richard Silverman,
who has written in all these areas, and more. When I first started collecting
music whose texts came from the bible I contacted Richard and was amazed at
his HUGE repertoire of original, singable melodies. He was teaching
songleaders at Camp Swig years ago, making sure that they had useable material.
You all
know his Eitz Chayim-Tree of Life and Mi Chamocha (ya ba bim bam) classics.
It has been difficult to get hold of sheet music for his music - recently
Cantor Bruce Benson helped Richard bring out a songbook of 62 of his
compositions
with melody line and guitar chords, keyboard accompaniment for nine of them,
and 14 pieces for choir or duets. If anyone is interested you can find out
more about this new songbook at:

A wonderful resource!!!
Happy Purim!
