I was "told" that V'Samachta" was for festival holidays only but when
you read the words, it sure seems appropriate!

Does anyone think "Vsamachta b'chagecha" is suitable for Purim?

utzu etza is absolutely appropriate for purim. I've been singing it all
day.... I haven't had any comments from Israeli teachers. The only
thing I can think of is that for secular Israelis it may seem too
religious a song - considering that all the other Purim songs are about
clowns and hamentashen and masks and dancing and noisemaking. But
clearly, they miss the point...

btw, another good, text-based song for Purim is Lay'hudim hayta ora....
