utzu etza is absolutely appropriate for purim.   I've been singing it all 
day....   I haven't had any comments from Israeli teachers.   The only thing I 
can think of is that for secular Israelis it may seem too religious a song - 
considering that all the other Purim songs are about clowns and hamentashen and 
masks and dancing and noisemaking.    But clearly, they miss the point...

btw, another good, text-based song for Purim is Lay'hudim hayta ora....
