[HANASHIR:16644] RE: hakafa?

At our temple we always carry to the Torah around, "encircling" the
congregation at the start of the Torah service. It's a little chaotic, but it
gives us musicians a chance to sing old favorites (Vehaeir Eneinu, V'taheir
Libeinu, Eileh Chamdat Libi, the Sufi "Hal'lu", etc.) plus new favorites like
Noam Katz's "Halleli".
At family/kid services we sing "David Melech", "Yisrael V'oraita", "Am Yisrael
Chai", etc.
