[HANASHIR:16602] Re: Need Music for a Celebrating the Sadness Program



Adrian,
Perhaps you could incorporate some of the music that is typically sung late
on Shabbat afternoon -- also a "sad" time because of the imminent departure
of Shabbat. Just as the holiness of Shabbat is accentuated by its contrast
to the mundane "chol" of the rest of the week, so joyous times are "joyful"
only because of their antithesis, sadness.

Also, you might use "Ani Ma-amin", which is typically associated with the
sadness of the Holocaust. It represents the Jewish belief that, even in the
most tragic of circumstances, there is always hope for redemption and a
happier future.
