[HANASHIR:16183] Re: Songsheets

I don't know about anybody else, but I sometimes have
to move around for my classes. In regard to the
poster board. I think it's a great idea for short
songs. But, what happens when you have longer songs?
How do you fit it all on one or two boards? Also,
where do you store all of the poster boards
afterwards?

You are so right, these are all potential problems and
I sure don't have a sure tonic for it.
You all may laugh, but sometimes I still use the most
old fashioned method of all: I write a new song text
on the white or black board (are you all writhing in
pain yet?), using different colors for the Hebrew,
English or translation, and transliteration, then
slowly erase the lines of sung text as they memorize
them. The kids love the challenge of this game and
everyone works well together to learn the song, no
matter what language it is in. Often I erase lines
from the end first, and give them the choice which way
to proceed, too. Obviously this requires time before
you teach each class, and you feel like, "wish I had
this on a poster or a songsheet", but, it works well
in a pinch. I'm sure there is a power point solution
to this technique, but it will be quite a while before
I get that savvy.
Thanks for the ideas, Ilana
