[HANASHIR:16030] ARCHIVES AND PRIVACY

Last night I was dismayed to be disturbed by a late night telephone call
from a complete stranger from another city and time zone who had a question
regarding the song "L'chi Lach". He found my name and telephone number in
the signature of a message I must have sent to Hanashir over 5 years ago.
He is evidently not a list member, but was doing a search through the
Hanashir archives.
Not realizing that my message would be available to people off the list, I
mistakenly included personal contact information.

I do wonder if it is necessary to make every message that was ever sent to
Hanashir available to anyone cruising the net. My preference would be that
these messages, many of them sent before we became more internet-savvy, be
deleted. Over the years I have read many Hanashir messages that for various
reasons should not be posted in this way. Adrian, can you comment on this?

Thanks,
Rachelle Shubert
