Dear Linda,
Perhaps Denise's mother is referring to the song "Meeskite" from the original production of the musical "Cabaret"? It was removed from subsequent revivals (as well as the movie), but can still be found on the CD reissue of the original cast soundtrack (1966). I know this sounds like a longshot, but stranger things have happened (after all, look at the extended history Dona Dona's been given since its early-1940s creation).
Shabbat Shalom,
Judah Cohen.

Dear List Members,
I have an acquaintance, Denise, whose mother told her about a song
she remembered loving as a girl called "Miskeit,"
(she pronounced it to me as Miss-kite), and Denise would like
to be able to find it for her, if possible. Maybe someone on the
list could help out. We don't know if it is Yiddish, or Polish
or Russian. "Miskeit" means unlucky or unfortunate (or worse,
mean things) in Yiddish, doesn't it?
Todah rabah,
