A colleague of mine, Cantor Victor Beck, has made me aware of a situation with 
our brothers and sisters in Israel which is much more serious than we might 
think.  Thousands of people are going hungry, every day, and that includes 
thousands of children. One of every four children in Israel is living in 
poverty. There is a volunteer organization in Israel that is doing remarkable 
work feeding those who are hungry. That organization is called Meir Panim. They 
even feed thousands of children in the public schools every day. 
Victor in conjunction with other cantors from all over Long Island, have begun 
a nation wide campaign to raise money to help "Feed the Hungry Children of 
Israel."   They began this campaign on November 17, 2003 with an incredible 
Dinner and Show for 2000 people, all of which was donated. The evening featured 
a full kosher dinner and a spectacular show performed by 15 Cantors. Attendees 
paid $100 per person to attend and 100% of the money collected went directly to 
the Meir Panim Feed the Hungry Children Fund to purchase food.

Victor would like to see Fundraising concerts like this (with or without 
dinner) set up all over North America and he asked that I make cantors and 
leaders of song aware of this campaign.  He is willing to help any community 
who wishes to put on a concert by sending flyers, radio spots, even coming 
there himself to make it happen.  Please visit their web site at
