[HANASHIR:15923] Re: thanksgiving/jewish songs...

Hi,

We do an interfaith Thanksgiving service every year as well at Temple Shalom,
Dallas. This year we are hosting at the Temple. Here are some additional
suggestions:

1. Thankfulness (We Plough The Fields) by Hugo Grimm. It can be found in the
Old Union Hymnal. It's all in English. We're using it this year.

2. Michael Isaacson has a new song, Hazor'im B'dimah-An Anthem of Hope (From
Psalm 126:5). We're using this as well this year. Contact him at Eggcream
Music.

3. Our children our singing two songs
            -Klepper's Modeh Ani L'fanecha
-a new Shehecheyanu by me! It combines the prayer in Hebrew with
the English translation. It's very user friendly for children and adults. We
have had our Adult and Youth choirs sing it together. Works very well. I'd be
happy to share it with you or anyone else that is interested. Just contact me
directly at lrmetrik (at) yahoo(dot)com

Good luck. Hope your service goes well. Happy Thanksgiving.

Hi everyone!

I am writing to get some song ideas for an interfaith Thanksgiving service that
my temple is doing with a Christian church -- we've done this service with them
for years and in the past used songs such as "Eili, Eili" and "Lo Yisa Goy"...
We are not looking to totally revamp our service, but would like ideas of
perhaps one or two new songs to use. Ideally, we would like the songs to be
particularly appropriate for both Thanksgiving and interfaith, and hopefully
easy for people to catch onto.

Thanks in advance, and I hope everyone has a very happy Thanksgiving!
