Achi ~ When I did this song last year with my middle school chorus, an
Israeli had been living here for only about 2-3 months and she thought
that "we Americans could never know what it feels like to sing this
song, because we can go anywhere we want, but Israelis have NO other
place where they can go except Israel." (Then how come she is here??)
Anyway, I tried to explain to her my reasons for doing the song and our
relationship with our brethren, etc. our closeness to k'lal Yisrael,
etc. She didn't seem to understand that we were singing it out of our
close relationship to Israelis. Other Israelis thought it was ok for
us to sing this - Just wanted to give people a "heads up" in case they
might have someone say something similar. I have not sung it since but
I'm going to. It's a gorgeous song!

Why should Israelis who live in the US be sensitive about that song? I
don't get it.
