[HANASHIR:15884] A Question about Salaam

Some time ago, I was told that the Arabic word "salaam" does not have the 
same nuance as "shalom."  As I recall, the writer said that "salaam" was the 
equivalent of "Pax Romanis."  If anyone can affirm or refute this 
understanding, I 
would be very grateful.
