If you're doing a lot of printing, lasers can be faster and a lot less 
expensive in the long run.  I've owned many HP models and found that they have 
the best print quality and reliability.

If you choose an inkjet, make sure to get one with real 'black' ink (some make 
black from the three colors which doesn't come out as well).  The printers can 
be very inexpensive, but ink cartridges get expensive unless you refill your 
own (I do and it's pretty easy).  Especially if you're not refilling, make sure 
you get one with a separate black ink tank (Canon) or cartridge (HP).  Ink 
tanks (Canon) will cost a lot less than cartridges (HP, Lexmark).  And, the 
inkjets will need higher quality paper to get results as good as a laser 
delivers with regular bond paper.  My current inkjet is the Canon S820 Photo 
Printer (photo printers have 6 inks - black, three basic colors and two lighter 
shades for photo printing) which I bought for under $100.  It makes great 
pictures.  Haven't tried it on sheet music since I have a Laserjet 5 here, too.
