[HANASHIR:15687] RE: Kristallnach program - music needed :-)

How about one of the Psalms traditionally sung at funerals/memorial
services? I really love Esa Einai (Psalm 121) by Ben Steinberg. In addition,
I'm sure that there are many arrangements of Psalm 23, The Lord is my
Shepherd".

Subject: [HANASHIR:15675] Kristallnach program - music needed :-)

Hello!

I am organizing a brief Kristallnach memorial service through Hillel at the
University of Rochester. I have a brass quintet that is going to underscore
a slide show, and they have appropriate music, but then I have a solo
vocalist...and we're at a loss for what she could sing.

Does anyone have any suggestions of appropriate pieces for this type of
event? We are looking for something short, that can be accompanied by a
pianist. The vocalist is a freshman at the Eastman school of music, so the
complexity of the piece is not an issue.

The only thought I had was Lu Y'hi, because the students will recognize the
melody, and it is peaceful/meaningful. I was going to have her sing the
"And still the white sail in the distance" version.

Any and all thoughts are MUCH appreciated!

THANK YOU!!!!!!!

~smile always~
