HI Judah,
    I only met Reb Shlomo one time, at a public/private concert he gave 
in Milwaukee some twenty years ago.  After the concert we were invited 
to a party ( with more singing, of course) at one of the most revered 
Orthodox rabbi in the area's home.  I heard that they were hesitant to 
invite me into their home unless I assured them that I would not raise 
my voice in song.  Embarrased and hurt, I considered it for a moment, 
until Reb Shlomo in his encompassing, loving way, said of course I 
should be there.  He changed my feeling to one of welcome, inclusiveness 
and validation as a Jew and as a singer of Jewish song.  It's hard to 
express how uplifted I felt, not only with his music, but also with his 
humanity.
