[HANASHIR:15504] Re: Voice Care for the Holidays

I was told by a pulmonologist about the reflux difficulty with the voice
because I have been on Prevacid for several years. We tried changing my med
to Nexium, which did not work for me. In fact I got worse. It's amazing
what meds work for different people. I loose my voice at a drop of a hat
(speaking voice): walking by something that has mildew, a candle aisle in a
store that has strong fragrances, incenses, etc. It takes a lot for me to
loose my singing voice. Sometimes when I am going through a bad spell, I
just have to drop my voice down an octave or so.

I constanly had throat troubles and took allergy meds and guifenisen
for years. Then I kept losing my singing voice and I wasn't sick and
allergies weren't the issue. Come to find out it was reflux! I tried
different meds (and went to a gastroenterologist) and now that I take Nexium
I'm doing great. I had acid in my throat and that was causing the
problem. I feel like a different singer!
So how many of you watched 60 Minutes the other nite?? I did and I was
quite impressed. Even Dr. Treffert---the world's expert on savants,
approved. (they at least quoted him but didn't give him credit). Oh well.
The boys that played piano, Rex and Derrick, were amazing as usual. Hope you
got to see it.
