[HANASHIR:15469] Re: Of Larynxgitis

I use something a bit less invasive and, for many
people, with fewer side effects. Aspirin. Since much
of laryngitis is swelling of the vocal chords, and
aspirin reduces swelling in the body, I take an
aspirin before rehearsals and performances if I feel
the laryngitis is due to to overwork, tiredness, or
light flu symptoms. If the aspirin doesn't help, I
know it is much more serious.
Since some people my age use one aspirin a day to
prevent heart attacks, I figure it won't hurt me for a
few days! Prednisone is scary stuff to me, my husband
has to use it and sure wishes he didn't!
However, I agree with Jeff Klepper - REST and water
intake are the best remedies. Also steam and nice warm
drinks.
I also use propolis/ecinecea/zinc pills when I feel
something "coming on." And throat spray with propolis
in it.
