I, for one, look forward to your "unsubscribe" decision.

Oh please.... : (

While this conversation and subject matter may be hitting some basic
American nostalgia - it's enough to make me want to unsubscribe. I look
towards this list and its members for JEWISH support, insight and
repertoire. That's our job. If you want to continue this conversation there
are great folk sites: folkweb, folkzone etc. - I have tried them out myself
when looking for American folk resources.

Let's get back on track, shall we and remember who we are? Learn the songs
and chants of our Jewish sages and songsters for the High Holidays. Leave
the folk to the folk festivals - ESPECIALLY on Yom Kippur.

Also -- some contemporary folk-ish tunes that work really well at an
alternative Yizkor service (especially at Yom Kippur):

Beth Neilsen Chapman: "Sand and Water"
Sting: "Fields of Gold" (there is a gorgeous cover of this by a woman whose
name
escapes me, with guitar and voice)
Judy Collins: "The Fallow Way"
