[HANASHIR:14622] Re: 60s Folk Music (and 50's too)

Smithsonian-Folkways is a superb label to check out for a lot of
classic folk music (read broadly - "folk", old-timey, classic bluegrass,
blues, etc) - this is the successor to Moses Asch's old Folkways label -
they've re-released much music (such as the old Carter Family Victor
recordings, and old recordings from the civil rights movement (a four-CD
set which includes many cuts from the SNCC Singers (with a young Bernice
Johnson, one of the founding mothers of Sweet Honey in the Rock), as
well as church meetings) and released new compilations (such as from
Mike Seeger, Pete Seeger, etc) - although, I have yet to see re-releases
of other recordings, such as Vanguard, or some of the old (double) LPs
of Phil Ochs, Joan Baez, Mimi and Richard Fariña, etc
