I second that motion. We have to remember that we are Jews - especially at
a Jewish camp! There are hundreds of "secular" songs written by Jews. Try
totshabbat for starts. Hey, how about Irving Berlin, Hammerstein and the
rest? They were all Jews! Point out to your campers that the "secular"
songs you are singing are songs that made the hit parade her ein the
Diaspora but are written by great Jewish composers. BTW - there are books
out that list all the great Jews - Great Jews in Music, Sports etc. etc.
Skim through one of those books and list the Jewish greats - then find
their works on the Internet!
