Gail, Rahel and others --
Thank you for responding. I actually received some emails offlist by folks
who thought I needed my head screwed on straight. Those who have responded
seem to be largely unappreciative of the question. And no one has responded
to my actual query, which was how Jewish teachers deal with this type of
question as it comes up, and how they transform the question into a learning
opportunity. I am glad I asked the question, even if some of the answers and
their tone have made me squirm. Squirming is part of the learning experience,
too.

As ever, Hanashir is filled with thoughtful people. I look forward to meeting
those of you who will attend HN.
