No, no, Edward is just displaying the typical Canadian inferiority
complex of "if we wrote it, it must not be very good". That's why any
Canadian artist who wants to be famous has to go the to US for
recognition - it's not because there are so many more people there, it's
because Canadians believe that Canadian-grown music must by definition
be boring and unoriginal. On the other hand, if you move to the US,
suddenly your music acquires an originality and insight it couldn't
possibly have had at home.
Hence the famous saying - What is the Canadian Olympic dream? To win a
silver medal!
