[HANASHIR:13694] Lo Alecha

Kol B'seder's Lo Alecha, as it was written, does have
the addition of the "hayom katzar v'haml'cha
m'ruba..." verse. It may seem like a deviation, but it
is still part of the song. On the original NFTY albums
(recently re-mastered and packaged by Transcon.) Lo
Alecha is recorded with the verse. If my memory serves
me correct (and correct me if I'm wrong), Jeff once
said that he opted not to sing that verse on 1984's
The Bridge because "no one was singing it." This is a
case where the public response to the song has in
effect shaped the way it is performed and listened to
(think Heiveinu with "ooh-Ahh!"). I don't remember if
Jeff or Danny had any feelings on the editorial of
their song, but I would be currious. Some folks are
just happy they have a hit on their hands, they don't
even have time to be offended!
I recently sang informally with Danny and many others
at the NFTY Biennial staff snack in the Cigar Bar
(whoo-hoo!) and when we got to Lo Alecha, many people
were excitted to demonstrate that they knew the
"extra" verse to Lo Alecha. I think it sounds great,
and textually is a very important part.
Thanks, as always, to Jeff for sharing his wonderful
gifts.
