[HANASHIR:13119] The Tree Song Words and Chords

Hey Marge Eiseman (et al),

As per you request, here's the full description of the Tree Song that I
have sent to the list in the past. Hope the choir likes it... :)

If anyone out there wants the hear this song, feel free to email me
privately to request the MP3, or alternatively you could pick up a copy of
the Camp Swig CD from '98, Shir L'Yom Chadash which also has it (and many
other great tunes). Here's the link to it:

D
I've got a friend
A
Who comforts me
D
I'm a kid
G
And he's a tree!
           D A D G
We grow, we grow we grow.
           D A D G
We grow, we grow we grow.

Tu Tu Tu Tu Tu Tu Tu Tu Tu Tu Tu Tu Tu Tu Tu Tu Tu Tu Tu
Tu Tu...Tu'B'shvat...
        Tree, Tree, Tree, Tree, Tree.....Tu'B'shvat

On my Birthday
We eat a lot.
On her birthday
It's Tu B'shvat.

Also, make sure you don't forget the ever-important body motions to the
chorus parts of this song:

"We grow, we grow..." -- During this part, I have kids start out by making
themselves into tiny seeds by dropping down and making wrapping themselves
into a ball to be as small as possible for the first "we grow", and then
they make themselves into Saplings (or half-trees) by kind of squatting and
putting their arms out bent for the second "we grow", and then I have them
make themselves into big tall trees with hands in the air for the third "we
grow" and after the last "we grow" is to transition back to the seed again...

"Tu tu tu..." -- During this part, I have kids start kind of squatted, and
then shake their hands in front of them really low down, and through each
"Tu" they get a little higher and a little higher until by the end they are
BIG TALL TREES again with hands above their heads.

"Tree! Tree! Tree!" -- During this part, every time you yell tree, you have
to make yourself into the craziest shaped tree anyone has ever seen, and
hold that position until you yell "Tree!" again (WARNING: This is very fun
for kids.) I sort of call it "vogue-ing like a tree". The key here is that
there are lots of different shaped trees all over the world, and we can
appreciate that by trying to be like them... Together, we can become a wild
and wackiest forest of kids...

Happy Tree-ing!
