[HANASHIR:13016] Re: Keyboard Question

Dear Friends,

I am in the process of buying a new keyboard. I have an old Yamaha that is
about six years old which I really liked. When I went to purchase a new one
(similar model) there was one very basic function that was missing and I was
wondering if anybody on the list had the same problem.

The old Yamaha models (and new Casio versions) have a button for playing
chords marked "fingering" which allowed me to play full chords in both the
bottom and upper registers while the "accompaniment" was playing a beat. The
new models "appear" to only allow a user to use a "one-finger" method of
playing the chord - and while doing so there is no sound coming from the keys
in the base (or split point).

I have contacted Yamaha and they believe this is how the new models are
working - but I'm not sure they really knew what they were talking about. If
anybody has any practical experience with this or has any suggestions on a
good keyboard for around $200 - please let me know. BTY - I have tried the
Casio brand and so far prefer Yamaha over Casio.

Thanks - and you can contact me privately at: KJMOM18 (at) aol(dot)com
