[HANASHIR:12870] RE: Mishkan T'fillah

Thanks to everybody who sent information about the 6th service. (without
G-d). It's interesting to hear when and how the service was used. I find
the issue of faith extremely interesting, why and how people believe. I
think that because faith has always been a pillar of my Judaism, and the
role that religion plays in my life, I find it hard to understand what one
could use as a sort of "subsitute". How do they explain the unexplainable?
But I guess there doesn't need to be a substitute. One of the neat things
about belief that I emphasize when I teach the first commandment to my 3rd
grade students, is that everybody believes in their own way. And that's
what makes faith special, that it's your personal connection and
relationship to what you believe to be out there, to what you believe to be
bigger than you. For many, that "out there" part exists as G-d. To me G-d
represents my creator, and the idea that no matter what happens I will never
be alone because G-d is always watching, but others see G-d in a completely
different way. And I think that's what makes faith so neat.

Thanks for the information, and good luck with the new prayer book.

~smile always~
