[HANASHIR:12859] RE: Mishkan T'fillah



Joy,
Some people close to me are members of a Jewish branch called "Humanistic 
Judaism".  It's also referred to generically as "secular humanistic 
Judaism".  They DO have religious services, but the words, where they can 
be, are altered to refer to "the light" as well as other terms - i.e., the 
light of *human* divinity, if we can speak in those terms.

Personally, I believe that Judaism practiced in such a way is like a 
two-legged stool.  But:  Judaism is really more of a family than a 
religion, and we don't have to agree with all the members of our family, do we?
