Hello Hava Nashira Community,
Wanted to let you know that I've just completed work on
http://SteveDropkin.com/
Steve is one of the most important voices in modern Jewish American
music. The website features information on his two solo releases
including his latest recording "InnerPeace" which once again
highlights Steve's talent as a great song writer. It includes guest
appearances from Julie Silver, Rick Recht, Doug Cotler and more. As
a camp song leader and synagogue Jewish music specialist I've found
I've been able to use lots of Steve's anthematic and upbeat melodies
in all the settings I have the privilege to share music with.
Highlights of InnerPeace include the great upbeat singalongs "Yotzer
Or" and "R'tzei." They remind me a lot of the kind of material I
fell in love with on his earlier recordings with his former trio
KETZEV. In the song "When Peace Has Come" Steve proves that he IS
Jethro Tull with an upbeat flute solo that will have you believing
that it is 1971 all over again and loving every minute of it. Steve
has the ability to write songs that I described earlier as
'anthematic'. When listening to tracks like "We All Stand Together"
you'll be able to envision hundreds of people standing arm in arm
chanting the lyrics. InnerPeace is rounded out by some very nice
ballads, including Yih'yu L'ratzon (I still haven't met a Yih'yu I
haven't thought was gorgeous) and "Heal Our World" which was
originally shared with the Hava Nashira Community in 2001. I
heartily recommend InnerPeace as an important contribution to
anyone's Jewish Music library and personally, I couldn't live without
all of Steve's recordings. (err, and my b'sheret.)
You can order any of Steve's albums directly from him through his
website (http://SteveDropkin.com/) via a print and mail order form,
or from all of the major Jewish music outlets. (Soundswrite, Tara,
ARE, etc...)
If anyone is interested in web design for you our your Jewish music
project, please don't hesitate to send me an e-mail.
