[HANASHIR:12676] RE: Guide Our Steps

Linda --

Thanks for the clarification -- somehow I knew there was more to the story, and
I did not mean any
disrespect to all those who collaborated on the Ufros Aleinu melody. The
information I posted came
from "R'fuah Shleimah" (p. 120), which attributes the credits accordingly.

I'd like to clarify the information about the Ufros Aleinu melody
composership: That "counterpoint" melody was written in a songwriting session
at Hava Nashira led by Julie Silver (in 1996, I believe). I know, because I
was one of the 10 or so participants in that particular session. While Julie
did indeed suggest that "Ufros Aleinu" was a fitting piece of text to
juxtapose with Debbie Winston's stirring (but, in Debbie's estimation,
"unfinished") song, the composition of the Ufros Aleinu tune was truly a
collaborative effort by all the participants. To attribute it solely to Julie
Silver is quite misleading.
