  A long time ago I heard a singable English translation to the song that goes 
"Chanukah, Chanukah, chag yafeh kol kach ...". Does anybody know these words? 

  The topic of singable English to classic Hebrew songs I find to be a very 
helpful teaching tool, especially when familiarizing little ones with a song's 
melodies before teaching them the Hebrew. Some examples of relevance at this 
time of year is "Mi Y'maleil - Who Can Retell" and "Maoz Tzur - Rock of Ages". 
Here the English (antiquated as it is) might be considered a standard component 
of the song. Another example recently discussed on the list is "Finjan". It 
would be interesting to compile a "singable English" database.
