I don't believe Shemer has written for the liturgy. Rabbi Reuven Samuels,
former Director of the Leo Baeck High School in Haifa, told me that back in
the 1970s he had tried to commission her to write music for a service but
she turned him down.

Nira Chen composed Iti Milvanon and Dodi Li (she is a kibbutznik and a
retired music professor)

Sara Levi Tanai composed El Ginat Egoz (she was a successful choreographer)

Nurit Hirsh composed Oseh Shalom, Bashanah Haba'ah and dozens of other hit
songs. Cantor Jay Frailich of University Synagogue in L.A. commissioned
Nurit to wrote some music for him some years back which may have included
liturgical pieces.

Are any Israelis on our listserve? They would have the most current
information.
