[HANASHIR:12434] Re: when God made the world

"This Is Very Good" becomes very, very elevated when sung seriously at
a medium tempo, with a perfectly and beautifully executed rolling
accompaniment played legatissimo on the piano. At a recent Interfaith
service I programmed it back to back with "God of the Sparrow, God of the
Whale" from the Methodist Hymnal, and "Gracias Senor" from a Spanish
Catholic Hymnal. Sandwiched inbetween was a blast of the shofar, and as
outlandish as this all sounds, it was incredible.
Someone asked for the words we use in Spanish.....my Argentinian cantor
is in New York this week, taking in the full BJ experience, but I will have
her assist with the Spanish text next week when she returns to Miami.

this is fascinating!! I use the song as a fun and silly way of teaching 5
year olds about parshat b'reishit! I'm trying to imagine how the song is
done in either a cathedral or at a solemn yom kippur service. are we
talking about the same song? am I singing it incorrectly? WOW! talk
about a versitile song...
