I have been asked to officiate at a wedding in Colorado in June 2003. (In
the state of Colorado you don't have to be ordained clergy to officiate at a
wedding -- anyone can do it.) The couple is looking for a Jewish ceremony
(they are both Jewish) that is modified to present a more gender neutral or
even feminine way of addressing God -- no "Lord/Adon" or "King/Melech".
Does anyone have any suggestions of altered texts or appropriate songs?
Also, as this is my first wedding on the bimah since my own 21 years ago,
does anyone have any other misc. suggestions regarding how to approach this
and prepare for it.
Also, does anyone have a suggestion of a Renewal or Reconstructionist Rabbi
in the Basalt, CO area that I can recommend this couple contact?
Thanks in advance for your help. You can respond to the list if you think it
will be generally helpful, or to me personally at jaugshir (at) aol(dot)com
