[HANASHIR:12377] RE: Lecha Dodi

Rob - The Lecha Dodi on the BJ cd starts off with a very slow melodic
line. It then goes into a wonderful niggun and then a faster version of
Lecha Dodi. The words do not necessarily match with what you typed.
Anyway, the credits appear like this: "Medley: traditional European,
attributed to L. Lewandowski, traditional Turkish and Bulgarian,
traditional Chassidic; text: Rabbi Shlomo Halevi Alkabetz, 16th c.
Safed"
By the way, anyone who does not own this cd should run, not walk; and
get it! This is a gift you should get for yourself.

Subject: [HANASHIR:12360] Lecha Dodi

Does anyone know which version of Lecha Dodi is referred to as the
"camp" version (presumably popular at the UAHC camps)? Also, there's a
version of Lecha Dodi I have that purportedly is from Temple B'nai
Jeshurun in New York, but the Cantor who gave me the music did not know
the composer. The chorus goes:

Lai, lai lai lecha dodi
Lai, Lai lai likrat chala
Lai, lai lai p'ney Shabbat
P'ney Shabbat n'kabalah

Anyone have an idea who the composer is?

Thanks.
