I have been lurking for a while, but had to respond to this one! We all have
our own opinions and that's fine, no need to slur others. OUCH to the comment
below about churches (and assumingly temples) being "guitar-infested." I love
my guitar, it (she?) is my friend and singing/songwriting companion.
Let me ask this: WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF JEWISH MUSIC? Isn't it to praise G-d,
and to inspire listeners to feel Jewish, feel close to G-d, pray, obey
commandments, learn a few words of Torah, learn about our cultural traditions,
learn Hebrew, etc. etc. etc. To me any style of music which does at least one
of these things is "great" music.
