One of the things that prevents new artists in ANY genre from getting their 
stuff out there is a lack of money, to pay for everything from recording 
time, computer technology, travel expenses to synagogoes or festivals (such 
as CAJE) or even a decent instrument. 

Many new voices out there could use more encouragement of all kinds (tangible 
AND  intangible). How about starting a fund for new artists and maybe having 
a new Jewish music contest (sponsored by Hanashir? Dunno) and the top ten 
artists get to have a song each recorded onto a new CD. Established artists 
could offer to pay a small percentage of CD profits from their next CD into 
the pot to begin the fund and some financial genius out there might find a 
way to grow it and help it become sustaining. Maybe the top five could win 
scholarships to the next Hanashir conference. Just ideas here. Let's hear 
more.
