Dear Chevre,
I will be traveling to CAJE on Saturday, and I have also recently
bought a Taylor guitar (355CE 12 string). While I would LOVE to take that
one with me, the store where I bought it did not have a hard HARD shell
travel case for it nor did they recommend traveling with it on an airplane.
Someday I am going to take the chance, though. For now, I am bringing my
Baby Taylor with its newly-installed pick-up and a pre-amp which will give me
some control over the sound. With the new long-lasting Elixir strings on it,
it sounds quite good. I know, it's not like the 12 string, but it will work.
One day, when we get consistency from the airlines, we will all be able to
travel knowing what we can do to protect our instruments and then we can say
a Shehecheyanu!!!
I should add that I have heard of people using the regular Taylor
hardshell case and the guitar was checked and it was fine. I think that
would be enough for the rabbis of the Talmud to say, "go for it!"
Hope to see some of you at CAJE!
