[HANASHIR:11944] backpack strap for hard guitar case... and other suggestions

hardshell cases, making them easier to haul around. Don't remember the name
but you can try finding them through google or whatever. GOod luck."

The company that Beth is referring to is called "Back Axe" and their website
is http://www.backaxe.com

I have never personally tried the backaxe, though I first learned of it when
I saw Cantor Wally using one last year at CAJE. I thought it was a very
clever invention. The price is not too bad -- $45 plus $5 shipping.

As for other alternatives to carrying your heavy case around, might I suggest
a couple of slightly outlandish (yet resourceful and very do-able) ideas:

1. You could bring one of those little collapsable luggage carts and attach
your guitar case to it using bungee cords, then you could just wheel your
guitar around campus (I have actually seen someone do this before).

2. Here's an idea I have thought about doing from time to time but haven't
tried yet: you could check your guitar in the hard case, and pack some of
your clothing or other necessary items in your soft case (and if you need
more space, pack the rest in a duffle and carry it on the plane). Once you
get to CAJE, unpack your things from the soft case and you will then have it
there to use for your guitar!

3. It might be too late for this already, but if you know someone driving to
CAJE, you might ask if you could send your guitar with them.

You know, it's about time someone invented a guitar with a telescoping neck
or something. Actually, if it just had a detachable neck, that would work
too... though you'd likely go through a whole lot of strings!

Good luck, and safe travels to you AND your guitar!
See you at CAJE!
