[HANASHIR:11885] Re: Sim Shalom

Eric:

Though I am sure your intentions were honorable-

1. The sharing of this file on hanashir is inappropriate. This is a
copyrighted piece of music. That it is your own transcription doesn't
matter. Hanashir policy requires due respect for copyright law.

2. We generally do not allow file attachments to be sent to the list
(though we do not actively screen them out.)

3. In addition, the use of TIFF files pasted into Word documents is not
a particularly good way or efficient way to share notation files. Even
the fastest of systems, with plenty of memory, would have trouble
printing such a file. I imagine most of the people on the list who tried
to open and print out this document found their system resources
overwhelmed. Even my home system with 256Mb Ram and a 1.4 GHz P4
processor choked while trying to print the file. It is best to share
Finale or Encore or similar notated music files as PDF documents, or in
their native formats. Converting them to graphics and pasting them into
Word documents is generally not a viable method of sharing them.

Sorry to have to play the heavy.

B'vracha,

Adrian
